Retirement

I remember a year ago as I drove into work on a spring morning, with the windows down, thinking about retirement. I thought of having days free to do with as I wanted, sitting outside in the warm sun, smelling the flowers and spring earth, reading, taking naps, visiting historic homes, working in the archives of LCHA, wandering through cemeteries, writing newspapers articles that interested me, and writing THE BOOK I have been dreaming of for decades. Retiring in five years when I am 70.

Then it occurred to me that I could retire this year! 2025! Why wait?! My mind soared as I thought of all the things I could do!! And then, as it usually does, my mind returned to the present moment, the practical, boring moment and my flight of fancy disappeared and practicality stomped in…I can’t retire now, I can’t afford to. Suddenly darkness embraced my mind as I drove along remembering what seemed lightyears ago, of my flight of fancy, the scent of flowers disappearing and spring earth disappearing, reading until my eyes grew heavy with sleep.. and then, BAM! my mind turned to what it ALWAYS does.. Problem solving with B.A.L.A.N.C.E. I could do both. And the plan for what I am about to manifest in just ten short days came through. I don’t have to stop working to be able to do all of the things I really want to do, I just need to balance the two..

So, on June 15, 2026 I will, for the first time ever, shorten my work week to three days of work, and four days of complete, utter, my time.. With two Saturdays of work a month thrown in – I mean, a girl can’t totally shut off…right? and as far as stopping at 70…we’ll see…
